For many of us, our children are at home doing school work online. In some cases it’s a virtual classroom where the instructor is giving a lesson and the students listen in. I happen to be passing the bedroom of my college student and there was so much feedback and screeching noises due to the students using the built in speakers and mics in their laptops, one could barely understand the professor speaking. Having three students at home now, and classes going on at the same time, I realize there is a need for a good pair of headphones for everyone.

Since many of the classes may require the student to interact, a pair of headphones with mics are whats really needed. So here are some tips to help you quiet down the house if you have multiple students studying online in the same room or close to one another without interfering on each other.

A pair of Bluetooth headphones with mic built in.

I’ll list a few types of headphones, starting with the best (more expensive) to good (not so expensive but works really well)

Make sure they have a Mic input, and preferably are rechargeable, so your not looking for batteries all the time.

Sometimes the setup can be tricky

Need bluetooth connection on the PC or Laptop

The set you see above a a personal favorite of mine, I’ve had them for over 3 years and they still work like a charm, and the sound is fabulous. Leeco LeMe $20 on Overstock.com (worth every penny). Normally start at $60 for a decent pair.

Option 2: Wired Headset with large ear cushion

The large ear cushion helps to cancel out noise in the room, and are very comfortable for those who don’t like having earplugs stuck in their ears (like me). Make sure you get a pair with the Mic built in, usually called gaming headsets.

Have to check for single or dual connection.

The cushion (leather like) will deteriorate over time like these.

A really good pair can be a bit heavy

Cheap ones, sound cheap, but not an issue for school work.

The pair you see above are a very nice slightly expensive pair Ive had for about 3-4 years, notice the cushion leather is peeling off, this is a common problem with large cushion headphones. You can get a pair of large over the ear headphones with mic for as cheap as $30 bucks on Amazon, just look for gaming headphones.

Cheap ones, sound cheap, but not an issue for school work.

These headphones are found pretty much anywhere from gas stattions to your larger stores like WalMart. Just make sure they have a Mic built in. I got these for $5 bucks, sound sucks but works great for just people talking to each other.

Final note on headsets. For wired headsets, Check your computer to see if you need a single or dual connection. Most newer laptops work like phones and only require a single wire connection like the image below.
